Fire Weather Calculator: A Handy Tool for Wildland Fire Weather Observation
Fire Weather Calculator is an Android application developed by UM Fire Center. This free utility and tools program is designed for quick calculation of RH (Relative Humidity), Fine Dead Fuel Moisture (FDFM), and Probability of Ignition (PIG) based on standard fire line weather observations.
The app offers a convenient way to archive and share these observations through various core Android functionalities such as email, Dropbox, and Google Drive. Users can opt-in to anonymously share their weather observations with researchers at the University of Montana, supporting weather prediction, analysis, and content display research projects. The shared data only includes app data fields and a device ID, ensuring no personal information is disclosed.
With the ability to perform bulk submission of multiple observations on the first page, the Fire Weather Calculator simplifies the process for users. Although partial form submissions are allowed and can be archived and shared, a complete form submission is required to calculate FDFM and PIG.
Please note that this is a beta release, and any questions or inquiries can be directed to the email provided by the developer. For additional tips and hints, users can visit the developer's blog.
